Selena Gomez "Fresh Face" Makeup

When Selena Gomez is on stage, she is known for her bold, dark eye makeup. As seen in one of my previous tutorials, she typically wears a smokey eye of any color (mainly of blacks and neutral colors), but she definitely wouldn't want to wear that when she's going out to lunch or going shopping. In those cases, she wears a very natural, simple look, sometimes with a pop of color on her lips as shown in the photo below. Surprisingly, this is a very simple look to achieve. It only consists of your usual foundation routine, a couple of shadows, eyeliner, and of course lipstick (optional).

     Directions:
     1. Start with a clean face. Selena's complexion is very clear and there are virtually no imperfections. That's most likely because she has a set skincare routine that she does before her makeup, as everyone should.
     2. Go to your foundation, BB cream, or tinted moisturizer. Choose the product depending on what your skin is like. If you need a lot of coverage, use a foundation. For light coverage, stick with the tinted moisturizer or BB cream. Apply the product to your skin using either your fingers or a makeup sponge. If you're using your fingers, simply blend it in all over your face and down to your neck. If you're using a sponge, begin by dotting the product onto your forehead, cheeks, chin, nose, and the small remainder on your neck. Then with your sponge, pat the product into your skin evenly. If you know that you will be in photos that day, this is a good tool to use because it will help give an airbrushed effect.
     3. Conceal. If you have a lighter concealer, apply that beneath your eyes and a small amount down the bridge of your nose for highlight. With a different concealer that is closer to your skin tone, cover any imperfections your face possesses.
     4. Set your makeup with a pressed powder with a large fluffy brush. As you would with a liquid foundation, blend it down to your neck and be sure to apply more product on to places where there is excess oil. These places could be your forehead, nose, and beneath your eyes. But as usual, it is different for everyone considering we all have different skin types.
     5. Prime your eyelids.
     6. Using a flat eyeshadow brush and a shadow close to your skin color, pack that onto your lids. This will cover up any discoloration that your primer may not have covered and it will enhance the idea of having a blank canvas on your eye.
     7. Take a fluffy contour brush and pick up a light brown. Begin blending that into your crease using windshield wiper motions. Also, blend it into your outer crease and build up the color in that one area.
     8. Using black liquid felt-tip eye liner, line your upper lashline.  Don't be afraid to wing the liner out as Selena did in the photo.
     9. Curl your eyelashes.
     10. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara to your top lashes, focusing more of it on the outer portion of your eyelashes. Only use one coat to your bottom lashes to prevent your look from becoming to dramatic.
     11. This step is optional but to continue on with Selena's original look, begin applying a deep red lipstick over your lips. Make sure you keep a steady hand as you go to prevent the lines from becoming jagged or uneven.
